Issue 95 - The Atlantis Connection
ADVANCING OUR CASE ON THE WEB
From Editor, J. Douglas Kenyon
When we launched this publication late in 1994, we daydreamed about becoming a kind of alternative National Geographic, but, in fact, we had no clue to what to expect. Now, though, about 18 years later, we can say that while we may still have a way to go to catch NatGeo, a not inconsiderable number of achievements have been chalked up. Atlantis Rising has now become the number-one-selling magazine in the U.S. featuring ancient mysteries, unexplained anomalies, and future science. Our books have been best sellers in our chosen marketplace and have been translated into about a dozen foreign languages. Our videos have been downloaded almost a half million times on YouTube. And by the time you read this, or soon thereafter, we will have opened, following a few delays, what we believe will soon become, one of the top alternative news web sites on the Internet.
If you haven't discovered it already, allow me to introduce you to the new AtlantisRising.com. We are very pleased with this latest advancement in our ongoing effort to provide fellow seekers of truth with the best alternative news service available anywhere. We hope you will soon be spending much of your time there.
Such developments, of course, do not happen overnight. The latest version of our web presence was years in the making. Among the hard won benefits are faster and cleaner navigation, new membership options, and more of our very rich content. All of this and even more will be made available to any visitor, and for those who want still more, our new on-line membership packages are available. You can choose either bronze, silver, or gold. We couldn't forget, after all, that the Olympics are coming up.
Many of our readers have expressed interest in subscribing to the Atlantis Rising online PDF edition. We can now offer such subscriptions and more. By becoming at least a silver member you will be able to download the new PDF straight from our on-line clubhouse for as long as your membership lasts. The new membership newsletter, sent to you by e-mail, will alert you to all the special opportunitiesbonus downloads, special offers, etc.available to members.
Alternative news featured in the magazine will be provided on-line, as will be our new and improved forums. For advertisers there will also be great deals on new, low-cost banners designed to take full advantage of our search-engine-optimized site traffic targeted at people, like yourself, interested in the kind of subjects we feature. Over the next few years we expect to continue improving and expanding the site.
Ever since AtlantisRising.com first appeared on the web back in the late 90s, we have wanted to create the kind of web presence which could truly bring the many who are curious about ancient mysteries, unexplained anomalies, future science, and the like, together with all the researchers and explorers who are making the exciting discoveries that will change the world. Along the way we have pulled together a lot of great material which you won't find duplicated anywhere else. In fact, we have been astonished ourselves at just how much amazing content has come our way. Unfortunately, it has not always been as easy as we would have preferred to fully explore the resource which we have provided. Hopefully, the new site will go a long way toward changing that situation for the better.

BALTIC SEA 'UFO' MYSTERY IS DEEPENING
When, early this year, Swedish underwater treasure hunter Peter Lindberg unveiled sonar pictures of a strange object his teamdubbed Ocean Xhad discovered at the bottom of the Baltic Sea, it caused a sensation. Few observers could escape noticing the object's uncanny resemblance to Hans Solo's Millennium Falcon spacecraft from the Star Wars movies. In the meantime mainstream science predictably dismissed the find as some kind of meaningless sonar artifact. They may now be readjusting their assessments. more...

The Tooth Is Out There: Human, but 400,000 Years Old
By Michael Cremo
In the fall of 2010, scientists in Israel announced a discovery that could push the history of the anatomically modern human species back to about 400,000 years. The general view among mainstream scientists is that humans like us first appeared less than 200,000 years ago. As regular readers of this column know, I believe humans like us have existed for many millions of years, going back to the very beginnings of life on Earth. Therefore I see the discovery in Israel as a tiny step in the right direction for mainstream scientists. But they have a long way to go before they reach a proper estimate of human antiquity. more...
Do We Know What We Think We Know Our Ancestors?
By William B. Stoecker
Any reasonably intelligent and open minded person looking at the similarities between the various species of plants and animals alive on Earth today will logically conclude that they are related, and can be classified into families and groups. Looking at the fossil record, seeing how species arise and eventually become extinct to be replaced by new species similar to the old, a logical person will realize that some kind of evolution is taking place. It is only on a much closer inspection that little problems like irreducible complexity and the truly immense gaps in the fossil record become obvious, leading many to the conclusion that only intelligent design can explain it all...a Supreme Being spending billions of years tinkering with genetics for reasons beyond our understanding. more...
The Ancient Subterranean Shelters of Cappadocia
Did These Long Forgotten Passages Host Survivors of a Concluding Ice Age?
By Robert Schoch, Ph.D.
Imagine this: Aerial bombardments raining down havoc on humans and beasts alike, setting wildfires and incinerating everything that is flammable. The intense heat is great enough in some cases to literally melt surface rocks which, once they cool, form a crude vesicular glass in a process known as vitrification. Elevated radiation levels are so high that a few day's exposure is lethal. The only realistic safe haven, the only place to flee, is deep underground in an intricate maze of subterranean passageways and rooms. more...

Are Deathbed Mists the Soul Departing?
By Michael Tymn
In 1901, Duncan MacDougall, a respected 34-year-old, Haverhill, Massachusetts, physician and surgeon, reported that there is reason to believe that the soul of man has weight. Experimenting with six tuberculosis patients, weighing them just before death and again just after death, he found an average loss of 21 grams. "The net result of the experiments conducted on human beings is that a loss of substance occurs at death not accounted for by known channels of loss," MacDougall wrote in the Journal of the American Society for Psychical Research. "Is it the soul substance? It would seem to me to be so. more...
Jesse James: Secret Agent
Fighting to Save the Confederacy with Bank Robbery and Murder?
By Steven Sora
We all know the legend of Jesse James and the infamous James gang which spread terror throughout the Midwest, successfully robbing one bank after another for years. Sometimes they are seen as Robin Hood types, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. At other times they are seen simply as robbers, making up for the economic depression that followed the Civil War. The truth is much stranger. more...
Plato and Near-Death Experience
Modern Researchers Are Not the First to Map the World Beyond
By Philip Coppens
We usually consider studies in near-death experiences to be a relatively modern phenomenon, coming into vogue only after doctors began to take notice of how patients reported anomalous experiences following a return to life after being declared clinically dead. But people have been at the brink of death, and returned to tell about it, for as long as we have existed as a species. more...

The Kensington Rune Stone Is Not the Only Evidence for a Prehistoric Viking Presence
By Frank Joseph
Atlantis Rising readers are familiar with the Kensington Rune Stone, as cited in last year's November/December issue (Number 54). The 202pound granite slab covered with a Norse inscription was excavated 120 miles northwest of Minneapolis, 114 years ago by an immigrant farmer clearing his field. more...
Could Strange Genetic Evidence Link Indigenous North Americans to Ancient Middle Easterners?
By John Chambers
There's an amazing place on the northwest coast of Canada that pulls us back to its fog-swept beauty as inevitably as iron to a magnet.
This rugged area of 150 scattered islands cradles some of the oldest living forests in the New World. Europeans absurdly christened this mystical place the Queen Charlotte Islands after a long dead, bewigged, British aristocrat. Far more suitable was its original, and recently restored name, Haida Gwaii, 'Islands of the Surface People,' bestowed by the Haida who have lived there for at least ten thousand years and believe that their home is a sacred place delicately balanced between the powerful sky and the sea gods. more...
The Great The Great Pyramid's Pyramid's Missing Missing Capstone
Everybody Agrees It Was Probably There Once, but Where Did It Go?
By Robert Bauval
One of the mysteries of Giza is the missing pyramidion or capstone of the Great Pyramid of Khufu. In modern recorded history the Great Pyramid has been topless, with several meters of its apex missing. Egyptologists have long assumed that the pyramid was originally capped by a small pyramid called a pyramidion. If that is true, then what happened to it, and what could it have looked like? more...
The Lucid Dream Experience
When the Stuff of Dreams Becomes More than Real
By Patrick Marsolek
You're sitting on the patio of a coffee shop drinking tea and talking with a friend. You see cars driving by. You can hear the chatter of other people's conversations and enjoy the fragrant taste of your tea. A police car drives by with flashing red lights and sirens wailing. You think to yourself, "What an annoying sound." Your friend says, almost simultaneously, "That was annoying." Your friend's words sound like they came from your own mind. You pause for a moment, and have a strange sensation, a kind of remembering. You feel a rush of energy in your body at the same moment you have an insight. You are dreaming. more...
Uranus Pluto Square
Mastering Revolution and Renewal
By Julie Loar
In June of 2012 Uranus in Aries formed a cardinal square with Pluto in Capricorn, an aspect of ninety degrees. This connection is arguably the most significant and challenging planetary influence in a generation. These planets will move in and out of an exact square seven times from 2012 2015. The focus of the planetary aspect pattern is radical change and higher awareness. Pluto's powers of transformation in the sign of structure are combining with the potentially shattering and awakening force of Uranus. We are living through a major generational upheaval, and this union calls for revolutionary change at a deep level. We are challenged to examine old structures and patterns that need to be deconstructed. Resistance to this energy builds to a pressure point that can bring an explosive and volcanic release. more...

Searching for the Ancient Records: Closer than Ever Before
Atlantis Rising (AR) has provided previous reviews of DVDs featuring Christopher Dunn, and many readers will be anxious to hear his latest presentations on this four-disc DVD set.
Christopher Dunn is featured on Disc 1. His material is in reference to some of his research of the past 20 years, which had resulted in the publication in 1998 of his book, The Giza Power Plant: Technologies of Ancient Egypt which describes the Great Pyramid as a holistic energy device that is harmonically coupled with the earth. Chris has published over a dozen magazine articles and has had his research referenced in over a dozen books on Egypt. He has appeared on PAX Television, the Travel Channel, Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, Lifetime Television, and most recently on the History Channel's series "Ancient Aliens," episode: "The Evidence." His second book, Lost Technologies of Ancient Egypt: Advanced Engineering in the Temples of the Pharaohs, focuses on an important aspect of his research into the manufacturing capabilities of the ancient Egyptians; and, through his engineer's eye and camera, he reveals to his readers previously overlooked magisterial characteristics of Egyptian architectural and manufacturing wizardry. He is an engaging, fun speaker with fascinating information to add to whatever conference in which he partakes. more...

AN INTRODUCTION TO SPONTANEOUS EVOLUTION
Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D.

Well, here is some news that may surprise youfrom an evolutionary standpoint, we are exactly where we need to be.
